Needed a 40mm for more field of view, took a chance on this SVBONY model and I am so glad I did. Nice crisp imaging on a dark black background. It just doesn't get better then this for under $200. (I picked it up for $40). First light viewed Saturn, Jupiter and all 4 visible moons, Pleiades and Orion Nebulae - all with crisp sharp focus much better than I am used to. I own 40mm, 32mm, 25mm, 15mm, 10mm and 6mm optics, If I were just starting out, I would get this 40mm and the same quality 15mm along with a good 2x and 3x barlow and be happy. Save your money for a bigger scope later. Excellent purchase, very pleased.

I bought a pair of these eyepieces to use with my 100mm objective binoculars. I was skeptical that they would focus properly, but that was not a problem! The 32mm focal length of the eyepieces and the 525mm objective focal length provided a 16X power and a terrific apparent wide field of view due to the plossl design of the eyepieces. The only chromatic aberrations are those of the objective lenses. The eyepieces that came with the binoculars provide 20X and 40X magnification which yield a 5mm and 2.5mm exit aperture (respectively). These new plossl eyepieces give me a very comfortable 6.6mm exit aperture with sufficient eye relief to permit using my eyeglasses.

I put this piece in test against Meade 40mm super plossl. They cover exactly the same area, the same view angle. Meade specs state 44. So it's not 48 and not 52 as some here claim. Taking out two stars for miss-advertising. Picture quality is good. But this requires precise eye positioning. Meade allows more flexibility. I bought this as replacement believing it has wider field of view. I payed so you don't have to. I'll stay with 15 years old Meade. It's better except for the price.

The only problem I have is that the coating has bubbles where there is no coating at all, it is hard to get a good picture of this but I think you can see this in the photo. I do think it is a well built and an affordable quality eyepiece for the price and I would buy from SVBONY again but the coating does have barren spots.

I was looking for a wide field eyepiece for my 127mm telescope. Having good experiences with Svbony eyepieces in the past, this one seemed to tick all the boxes.
Ordering was easy and the item arrived promptly and in fine shape. I'm very impressed with the build and optical quality of this eyepiece, first light was tonight, and the views were great! In my scope, it gives 25X with a 2 degree field of view, just right for star clusters like the Pleaides and Beehive (apparent FOV is 52 degrees, much better than any other 40mm plossl I've ever seen). Star images are sharp almost to the very edge of the field. All this for 50 bucks!
