Many laser pointers I have used end up having the frustrating behavior of “winking out” due to a loose connection. I have figured that this is typically a battery contact issue. This unit has been MUCH more reliable and doesn’t flicker or wink out.
On the downside, it is much thicker than a typical laser pointer - see photo 1 where it is next to a standard ball point pen. My guess is that it is likely due to being powered by a non-removable rechargeable battery. Recharging is done through a standard USB-C connection.
The “star field” effect see photo 2 is adjustable (see photo 4 for a different view). The star field lens is removable so that you can use this as a normal laser pointer.
Overall, this unit pleased me with its bright focused beam and the rechargeable battery aspect.
