It's recommend to measure twice a day at the same times. The first time should be in the morning before eating or taking any medications, and the second is in the evening. |
Push the cuff over your left upper arm so the tube points in the direction of the lower arm. The cuff lies about 2 or 3 cm above the elbow and keep a distance about 2 fingers between your arm and cuff. |
Sit for five minutes in a comfortable position with your legs and ankles uncrossed and your back supported against a chair. Try to be calm and don't talk while taking your blood pressure. |
Please note it doesn't show up your last measurement but the average of the latest 3 readings. Wait for one to three minutes after the first reading, and then take another to check accuracy. |

Q: Why does my blood pressure vary from reading to reading?
A: It is quite normal for people’s blood pressure to change throughout the day and night, or in different settings where you may measure your blood pressure. In fact, there are published studies that show a given person’s blood pressure can change by up to 20mm within a day, based on activity levels, food/drink intake, stress, etc. The doctor measures several times during the measurement and then receives a value that he has in mind as a diagnostic reference.
Q: I feel painful or numb when takeing measurement, is it a good or bad sign?
A: It's normal to feel like that. To measure your blood pressure, the cuff will be tighten until the arterial blood flow is stopped temporarily. So you might feel painful or numb for a while, but it is not harmful for your body and will disappear in a minute.
