    After having an old Vizio for more than a dozen years, it was getting long in the tooth and time for a new TV. After researching the options, I chose the S95D (55 inch) and I couldn't be happier. Setup and installation was a breeze and from start to finish I had the TV up and running in 30 minutes. The included apps look nice but since I already have an Apple TV box, I generally just use that. It looks like you could to a large degree do without it and just use the TV directly if you were mostly using Netflix, Amazon Prime, Apple TV, etc as there are built-in apps for all of these and more in the TV already. The picture quality is gorgeous compared to our 2012-era LED TV. Highly recommend this model and thinking of getting its big brother for our upstairs media room.

    I can't believe how amazing the picture and sound are on this TV. This TV replaces a 7 year old LG OLED, which still works fine. The difference between the picture on this TV vs the LG is night and day. The anti-glare screen works great. I have only had the TV on the wall for a day but it's hung in a bright living room. Even with the shades wide open, there is no wash out in colors. I have this paired with a SONOS system. Even the sound is better through the SONOS speakers. I just hope it lasts as long as the LG has lasted. It was expensive but that's what you get being an early adopter.

    I'm going to set the smart features aside for two reasons: 1) I don't like them in general, and 2) I don't think they're meaningfully different from far cheaper LCD screens. If you're shelling out for this, you're here for the screen.

    The screen does not disappoint. It looks absolutely fantastic to the point that I wasn't sure I ever knew what color things really were. I'm used to LCD screens and those have color aberration depending on your angle and the evenness or lack thereof of the backlight. This is like... wow, so it's not all hype.

    What I didn't like about this was the assembly. The instructions tell you eight ways from Sunday all the ways you shouldn't touch it or hold it to the point I wasn't sure there was any way to hold it without potentially damaging it, and it's not cheap! It wanted two people and I ain't got that. It's much heavier than I'd expect and it does not come with any convenient hand holds. You will need a table to lay it on, too, where the bottom end of the TV can be adjacent to free air for attaching the stand.

    The screws were fiddly, the parts were not organized into labeled plastic bags, and so finding the parts felt like a forensic analysis. It does come with a quick setup guide but this guide left me studying it and scratching my chin for a lot longer than most such guides.

    It is extremely thin for a TV. The panel has a single input cable that you route to an external box for all your media connections. If you want something as thin as possible to mount to a wall, this baby has you covered. I use the stand, though, which the external box can be mounted behind. You get a short or a long cable to connect this external box to the TV so whichever option you choose will be neat and/or have adequate cord length.

    There is no video or loop out, and this annoys me. Especially if I wanted to use the smart features with an external projector (and I would want to if I used them at all). As such it is preferable for me to connect this as a monitor only to some external device I can connect to a splitter to synch the output to the projector and the TV, but I have to forgo the convenience of the remote control.

    Speaking of the remote control, it has a solar cell for staying charged but it is on the bottom. So... probably not as effective as it could be. The thing is very small so I don't know why they couldn't make it a bit longer and install the solar cell on the top where it'd get light without having to be put down upside down. Maybe get a clear glass table to set it on. I don't know.

    The panel’s matte finish is an absolute game changer if you are using it in a brightly lit or sunny room. We used to watch our own reflections during dark movie scenes, not anymore, this thing is a black hole when it comes to absorbing light. Colors remain vibrant and the picture quality is fantastic. The TV’s speakers produce adequate sound quality but if you’re buying this TV, you’ll probably want to use a better audio set up.
