For some unknown reason, my Microsoft Office Home and Student 2013 Word Processing Program decided to quit working after 10 years! I called in the local Geek Squad and they were no help and told me I should take my computer in because they said my hard drive evidently was corrupt and more than likely I needed a new hard drive or a new computer! I tried to install it & it wouldn't work: I emailed support, they gave me a new link to try: it didn't work. Then a brand new "cleaning" program showed up on my screen, I thought I'll do it later. I emailed support again: they gave me another link. Then I was unable to do anything on my computer because the "cleaning" program was stuck on the screen. I called a computer repair guy, he said to immediately unplug from the internet, change all of my passwords using my phone, & bring him the computer so he could remove all of my data from the computer, because this was malware (a virus) & that if I continued on, they likely would send a ransom notice for me to get back all of my data. He said I should buy a new computer because it's practically impossible to remove all of the virus, & likely the next time I went on my computer, it would activate the virus & I'd have the same thing happen. I did all that & now I have a new computer. The new computer & the work that the repairman did cost me money I don't have, but I had to do it because I do bookkeeping, & there would be no other way to continue working. Of the $20+ I spent on the program, Amazon refunded me $16. I also told them what happened & that they should immediately remove this item from their website, and now I see that they have not. If Jeff Bezos can spend billions of dollars to fly his friends on a joy ride in Earth's outer atmosphere, surely he can afford to spend a million or 2 to insure that the products that they sell are safe.
