Wow, it comes with a case and heatsinks. It was really easy to put together and the included instructions were really easy to follow to get the display working. The touchscreen works and the display is bright and good enough to use in a terminal. Note: to rotate screen, run the rotate.sh script with desired screen rotation, the rest is taken care of for you.

The screen doesn't have very good view angle support, it only works well if youre looking on it straight on, but I highly doubt anyone who is making a device with a screen like this really cares about stuff like LCD view angle.

I found this touch screen to be generally very easy to install and the price was appropriate. The physical assembly was straightforward with one exception that the instructions for the corner standoff strain relief did not exactly match the hardware I received. The software was pretty easy to set up too. I tried installing their pre-packaged images as well as pulling the driver installation from git onto Raspbian. They all worked flawlessly. I do wish it was easier to find the electrical pinout and the make/model of the LCD screen so that I would know what pins are available for other purposes.

After installing the screen and following the instructions to install the driver, the screen worked great. However, I was having an issue where the screen refused to work after booting into console mode (I'm using this screen for a pi-hole PADD display). It would just keep the boot text on the screen with no way to clear it. I searched all over their wiki and online and found a single user on github that pointed out a fix so I could get this to work. Here's what I did:

    1) Flash Raspian Buster onto your SD card (I didn't try installing the Lite version as this Amazon page says their drivers won't work with it).
    2) Install the drivers following their directions on this page or on their wiki page.
    3) Confirm the screen is working, also go ahead and rotate / adjust the screen if you need to.
    4) Edit /etc/rc.local and comment out the line that reads 'fbcp &' by adding a # in front of it (should be near the bottom).
    5) Go into raspi-config and change your boot options to boot in console mode with auto-login.
    6) Reboot, you should successfully be able to boot into console mode with this screen.

With that being said, this is a fantastic deal for what I needed it for. Just needed a couple work arounds.

So I've been fighting with this thing for 2 days now. The included instructions don't work. Using the latest Raspberry Pi OS image, I've tried the included instructions, the Elecrow software as recommended in various places, and even the Adafruit stuff even if it wasn't offered as a solution. None of it worked. From what I can gather, the dtd being provided is not supported so the device isn't functional without a working dtd.

So I give up. The case is good, so there's at least that. But don't buy this for the case. There's far less expensive cases.

Installed into the case easily enough but I got a kernel panic after I try to install the driver. I suppose I'll try to install a precompiled image as suggested but not too impressed so far. Will update my review if I get it working.

    UPDATE:
I re-flashed with THEIR image (Kali)...the one that they recommended. It worked for a while, but after I attempted to rotate the screen, it now hangs on boot. Screen works to get to a command prompt (in rescue mode), but X doesn't start at all. So buggy! Am beyond frustrated.

    UPDATE 2:
I have adjusted my expectations. I reflashed again and found another tutorial online about how to change the rotation in a config file. Success. I think the lesson learned for me is that raspberry pi is a hobby board and requires a certain amount of tinkering. If you have anything important on your sd card make sure to back it up before doing said tinkering. Adding 1 star because I got it to work.

Fantastic little touchscreen for the Raspberry Pi; I got this to use as a persistent display for a Cryptocurrency ticker and it's great. It came with a stylus for the touchscreen included so I didn't need to worry about that, and included both the touchscreen to use with the case or a cover that you can apply to the case for when you don't have the touchscreen in use, which was a thoughtful touch.

No complaints, it's worked well, drivers were quick/easy to install from the website in the instructions, and displays perfectly.

4.0 out of 5 stars Kali needs a different driver

The product comes with everything you need to get it set up and running out of the box. It comes with the LCD screen, a black case to secure it, a top that can replace the LCD screen to support a fan, a heatsink to put on your pi itself, a stylus and an instruction guide. The screen and case fit snugly together. The LCD screen works well and seems to have surprisingly high resolution for such a small screen.

While the touchscreen function works, it doesn’t work well enough to replace a physical keyboard. The stylus should be used with the touchscreen, as it needs a firm poke to register.

I tried using both raspbian and Kali on this. Raspbian installation instructions are provided with the setup, and they work well. If you want to install Kali though, you’ll need ti use a different driver. I belive I used one on GitHub for mine to work. My last review got removed assumably by containing a link, so you’ll have to google “Kali Linux 3.5 lcd” and click the first link (should be GitHub) to get the right driver.
