Review

It is very useful to a street rider just beginning to venture off-pavement... Compared to other instructional DVD that I have, this one is very detail-oriented. --ADV Rider

It's easily worth every penny, especially considering the horizontal parking maneuvers it might help you avoid. Besides DOT knobby tires, the wisest investment the beginning adventure motorcyclists can make is also the cheapest - the BMW GS Off-Road Riding Skills Instructional DVD. --Ultimate Motorcycling

This DVD was well prepared and includes the necessary information to learn and hone skills necessary for successful off-road riding. I found myself going back to the DVD several times, after I tried different methods of riding, as explained in the DVD. Being an accomplished on-road rider, and fairly decent off-road, I am of the opinion that the instructions presented hit the nail on the head, which should help novice and accomplished riders collectively. --Amazon.com Customer Review

I have been riding street motorcycles for many years and recently also started doing some trail riding on the dirt bike.
After watching the Long Way Round TV Series me and some of my friends became convinced to go on a motorcycle riding trip where we needed to go on unpaved roads to be rewarded with great nature views.
This training video fit the bill very well.
I sometimes cannot believe BMW was ok releasing this to everyone. Essentially it is an excerpt of and a window into what their off road training academy does.
You get a introduction to common challenges to off road riding, adjustments to make on your bike before you begin, techniques to focus on as you begin, and a set of drills to help bring your skill level up.
Highly recommended!

This is a great beginner off road skills DVD with the big displacement adventure touring BMW motorcycles. They have some really go instruction and drills within the video. I would have like to have seen them go a little longer on some of the drills but that is why the have the "back" button on DVD players. Very open and honest instruction from the instructors. Would have been nice to have gotten some feedback from the riders that actually participated within the video. I would recommend to anyone looking to get better riding in the dirt.

Pretty much just common sense riding... Most riders already know this stuff... Don't waste your time or money. I was looking for two up off road riding techniques, this doesn't address any two up riding information...

Pretty thin. Shows a few exercises, but I think the most useful part for me was the "how to pick up your dumped bike" part. I pretty much knew the rest of it, as anyone who has been riding for 50 years would.

It was worth the two bucks I paid to rent it.

This is a well-produced introduction to adventure riding with a big enduro. I found it to be full of handy tips that were well worthy of review - things like how to turn around on a hill if you don't make it up on the first pass, and similar useful nuggets of information.

The video itself is fun to watch, with nice scenery, and of course a bunch of new GS bikes is always fun to see. The materials covered are very similar to what I was taught in a different dirt bike course that I've taken, and definitely work. There is a whole universe of things to learn to be a proficient off road rider (I'm still working on that....) and this video shows a nice selection of things to get you started.

Great skills training for anyone with a large Adventure bike that wants to expand their off-road capabilities. They say the best accessory is training - I agree. I've seen plenty of bikes tricked out for off-road but the owner has no skills. The official training organization for BMW is Rawhyde - they have an excellent reputation for great training. The video progresses through a series of skill exercises that help you develop the basics for successful off-road riding. Highly recommended.

Great beginner video for adventure riders just starting out. I like the step by step skills that build on previous steps. Very handy to have online and access anytime.

Thank goodness I chose to rent, instead of purchase this. It was just an overview without any detail, I did not learn anything new from this video and I was extremely disappointed. Don't waste your money.
