I received this almost a full week before it was scheduled to arrive (bonus) :-).
Worst features: CD's skip if you have this too near a loud subwoofer that is playing LOUD, drawers automatically close after a while (always right when I'm about to drop in a CD), the two drives default to variable speed mode at startup (I would prefer not variable speed as default so in case slider has been bumped the song does not play at wrong speed).
For the price this is a really fun CD player. I did not get it to be a DJ with, I bought it to use in my recording studio and I've been impressed with the performance and the sound quality.
We use it for learning songs, it is nice to be able to switch quickly from one player to another keep things moving along rather than having just a single CD drive.
I have only played conventional audio CDs in this player, I did not test any mp3 CD's.
I'm happy with this CD player for my casual CD use, if I was a pro then I might invest in something a little more heavy duty (if there is such a thing).
Good luck and good music to all!
But wait, even though the product title says "Dual 2U", the main unit is NOT 2U. Bumps on the bottom of the case exceeds 2U height (3.5") by 5mm so that I cannot place another piece of equipment underneath it without sacrificing one precious screw-space in my rack. I have exactly 8U's to work with and I need every bit of it (to fit 2U CD player, 1U signal processor, 1U power conditioner, and two 2U amps).
See attached photo. There are rubber feet that project 10mm below the main unit case, which is nice for someone who wants to set it on top of something else instead of rackmounting. That is okay, as the rubber feet can be peeled off. There are also screws holding stuff together inside the case that are projecting out the bottom of the case so that even if the bumps were not there, the screws would still scratch anything installed below or maybe prevent maximum use of the rack space.
The industry standards are very mature, published by many bodies, and should be well-known by EVERY product desginer. When dealing with rackmount equipment, everyone must follow dimensional standards to ensure equipment of various brands will fit any rack, consistently. The customer should have confidence in any product they purchase. Gemini broke that trust.
The front bezel is 2U, but the equipment case fails to meet the dimensional standard. Shame on Gemini. Either the designer should have known better or the company's managers overode the designer and let the marketing department lie to the consumers. In the end, "2U" is not the true dimension of the main unit, and I am motivated to not support a company that covers up these mistakes and/or outright falsely advertises.
I did not get to use this CDX2250 because I am going to return it and did not want to plug it in.
Notebook PCs fit CD/DVD/Blu-Ray writer/readers in a much slimmer space so the big bumps right below the CD trays are likely just sloppy product design. This product is marketed to DJs, among other mobile users, and I have to believe mobile musicians do not travel with unlimited rackspace.
Shame on Gemini for misusing the "2U" dimensional standard. This is a deal-breaker. I am going to give the slightly more expensive competitor a try, Stanton C502 Stanton C502 Dual DJ CD/MP3 Player .
