Used many of these tools in my life, this is by far the worst. Not sharp. Poor threads. Pipe diameter different than drill diameter. Unable to complete bore as the angle of the cutting edge is poor. Huge dent in the ear used to score the out diameter of the hole. Do not trust 4 and 5 star reviews by inexperienced city people getting into "bushcraft". This is a fairly heavy piece of scrap metal

I've been testing out this hand Auger and it has been great. When it arrived it came in nice packaging, so I figured it would be a quality tool. It also came in a canvas pouch, which made it nice for storing it with my other bushcraft tools (The safety tip was a nice touch). So far I've made a mallet and started making some furniture with it. The bit is very sharp and the weld point is very well done. I've had scotch eye augers before, and they were never this high of quality. It's always been difficult to find a good one. The lead screw on it is nice and long so that it grabs a hold of the wood really well. I've used it in some hardwoods so far and have been very pleased! This auger is even coated with an electrophoresis coating. If you don't know what that is, basically it creates a very strong resistant surface.
I highly suggest this auger for your survival pack or if you simply want a nice settlers wrench.

This product feel very sturdy, but as it arrived to me, it's unable to cut anything. Using a sturdy 18" handle, I was unable to drill into the side of a log more than half an inch. Expect to need to sharpen it.

This scotch eye wood auger is definitely at the top of my Bushcraft gear list. This hand auger drills the perfect hole and has been very durable. This one is built to last! I bought the 1.5” and love it, so I will likely pick up their 1” settlers wrench as well. You can’t beat the quality for the price!

This hand auger is really high quality. Very good craftsmanship. It’s sharp, durable, has a nice surface finish, and has a nice long lead screw to grab ahold of the wood. The pouch it comes with is really handy too. Im so impressed with this auger I’m going to purchase their 1 inch scotch eye auger as well!

I have the 1 1/2 inch and it works perfect. The only (small) issue is I wished it came with a heavy duty case/holder.

2.0 out of 5 stars Dissapointed

The auger comes in a poorly constructed case that won't last very long. The auger itself appears to look good quality, the weld at the top is worse that I could achieve myself and I am not convinced it will last. The screw on the end of the bit worked well but as soon as it tried to cut a hole it ran into problems, although it looked like it could be sharp it blunted immediately and would not make a neat hole. I have tried resharpening it but it doesn't seem to want to keep an edge, I suspect it is poor steel, I am also questioning the angle of the edge. I'm glad I tested it at home and not out in the woods when I would have needed it.

Dull, cutting edge had a folded apex, chisel edge was wonky and not sharp. After cleaning up both edges, it's works fine. The case is a throw away. Seams spilt with a breeze.
Overall, the tool is clean and will need to be sharpened but does the job. Time will tell how quality the steel is, how the edge holds up.
