They also say that there are teeth on the gears that are bent causing the derailer to break. Customers also differ on quality, ease of assembly, and value.

Customers are dissatisfied with the sturdiness of the bicycle. They mention that the spokes are bent, the rim is bent enough that after minimal riding, the brake pad wore the brake. Wishing a new bike was perfect
So, surprisingly, the bix arrived in tact, with no damage, despite it being sent by USPS instead of UPS, which would have made sense, and not have made it easy to make an excuse for it to be too heavy to deliver, and have to go out of my way after work ro pick it up. That is not the worst of the experience. This is my kid's new bike, and despite there being no damage to the box, and it being treated with a "white glove" handling, Mongoose aka Pacific Cycles, QC department missed one, and of course I got that one, where some lazy employee, applied a decal in haste, jagged it up, and instead of pulling it off right away and grabbing another off the stack, just left it and let it go out the door this way. I understand it's a kid's bike, and it'll probably be jacked up in a week or two, but when you buy something brand new, you want and expect it to be perfect. My kid probably won't notice it from the excitement of getting a new bike, and then thinking she did it somewhere down the road, but "I" know, and it bothers me. I sent an email to the manufacturer, and we'll see if they care or respond, but I doubt I'll hear anything, or get a replacement decal. It's definitely not worth all the BS, after finishing the last 15% of the bike build, and gettinv everything perfectly adjusted, to disassemble and return to Amazon. Just know, that I am NOT happy!

5.0 out of 5 stars Very Good bike for the money. *****UPDATED review 6 months
Reviewed in the United States on April 14, 2019
So far so good. I bought this for my 16 yr old son He is a big guy 6 ft 250 pds and I was worried it would be too small as it said medium frame. But it fits him perfectly and not small at all. he put it together quickly and easily. Really only had to attach front
wheel ,handle bars ,seat and pedals - pretty much already assembled . He was out with friends riding in the state park within 30 minutes of putting it together And he was riding it for more than four hours and said it handles well Only issue he had (which I saw from other reviews also ) was he has a sore butt ! I recommend either changing the seat or getting a gel pad cover for it ! Only day one But so far so good seems sturdy and supports a big guy

UPDATED: so we are 6 months in and the bike has needed a few adjustments. First off I had to take it to the bike shop because the handlebars continued to slip and loosen however I don’t know what the bike shop did but they fixed it and it doesn’t come loose anymore. Second. The tires kept popping and / or loosing air changed inner tubes a few times and then changed both tires out to something sturdier with Teflon and now they do not loose any air Still all in all it’s a Good bike for the money but be prepared to re-do a few things on it if it gets heavy use

1.0 out of 5 stars Buyer beware - not a quality bike
Reviewed in the United States on September 4, 2020
I had this bike for under five months, and logged about 330 miles on it; most of the miles were road miles around my town with varying elevations doing between 15-20mph, usually no less than 10 miles at a time. I would not recommend this bike to anyone who wants to use it for anything more than leisurely, slow rides around a neighborhood for the following reasons:

The first few rides, I had a pedal fall off (almost crashed), and the handlebars come loose; those may have been an issue with assembly and not tightening up enough, but it's not like I left everything so loose that those things should have happened. It got to the point where I always carried tools with me on my rides in case those things occurred again.

The chain skipped for almost the entirety of the time I used it over 4-5 months, and it eventually got to the point where downshifting to gears under maybe 13th gear caused the chain to grind horribly against the gears, sometimes popping the chain off.

It rusted at many different points (possibly from me sweating on it, but come on).

The gears were always difficult to get exactly in the correct position, brake adjustments were often required and they were always squeaky

The kicker of all these downsides occurred on my last ride, where downshifting at the end of the ride caused the chain to pop off the gear. It popped off while I had my full weight on a down-pedal and this cause the chain to get stuck around the derailleur and literally tear it off, bending the gears, snapping the housing, and rendering the bike completely unusable. Thankfully I purchased the coverage plan where I was fully reimbursed for the bike, but that is besides the point.

This is a definitely a you-get-what-you-pay for product, but I shudder to think what would happen to someone who took this on actual mountain bike trails. I fear someone could be seriously injured because of the poor quality. Buy at your own risk.

Confused with the handle bar of the bike it was mailed to me like this yet it looks as if it was set up backwards and I am not sure how to fix it. Otherwise bike seems good, havent had much of an opportunity to use it yet but I am looking forward to it.
