A solid low cost full QWERTY phone in a small and light package.
This phone is a good value for basic text and talk, particularly if you want something in a really small package without a data plan. (But if you really want a true smartphone, the HTC Aria is fantastic alternative to the Magnet in a similar size.) Anyway, after a month of use, here's what I like: - Size. With a QWERTY keyboard, it is simply hard to get much smaller and lighter. I often have to double check my pants pocket to make sure I actually have it. - Sound Quality and Volume. The speaker and speakerphone are quite loud and the phone is very usable without bluetooth while placed on the dash and driving. Even so, it reliably links with my bluetooth speaker every time and has clear audio during calls. - NO DATA PLAN REQUIRED! It's hard to fault any phone that saves me $25/month when ... This phone is a good value for basic text and talk, particularly if you want something in a really small package without a data plan. Sure, you can use 3G for basic data, but if you do that, again, you might as well get a real smartphone like the Aria, though most carriers provide MMS without additional charge for sending pictures via text. What I don't like: - Tiny ass buttons. I have to take my time to enter a text or phone number. It's certainly not as fast for me as using Swype on a larger smartphone, but it is still faster than T9 and not wholly intolerable. But it's a rare day that I send more than 10-20 messages anyway. - Method to send a new text is convoluted. Replying is relatively quick, but starting a new text thread requires digging through contacts that adds unnecessary steps you don't have to bother with on other phones. - Center Menu Key Not User Assignable. This one is simply annoying, making it impossible to disable opening the web browser any time the center menu key is pressed with the keypad unlocked. The other buttons can be changed, but not that one! Fortunately, locking the keypad prevents that from being an issue while pocketed. Other Thoughts: - Display washes out in bright sun - Charges relatively quickly with the tradeoff of shorter talk and standby time. - I also don't fear carrying this phone around without any kind of case. It is so light weight that unless it falls face first on the glass, no serious damage seems likely from a drop. - Signal quality seems on par with the One X it has replaced.

I bought this because I liked the color and appearance and didn't want to spend a lot of money at the time. the buttons were a little hard to text with, but the angle on each button made it a little better. for the simplicity of the phone, it had an ok-sized screen and could navigate the internet fairly well. also since it wasn't too loaded with features, the battery life was amazing. I got what I paid for, so i give it 4 out of 5 stars.I bought this because I liked the color and appearance and didn't want to spend a lot of money at the time. the buttons were a little hard to text with, but the angle on each button made it a little better. for the simplicity of the phone, it had an ok-sized screen and could navigate the internet fairly well. also since it wasn't too loaded with features, the battery life was amazing. Great basic phone
I downgraded from my Samsung Eternity touchscreen phone that I've had for two years to this phone because I was tired of the touchscreen keyboard and keypad. The Magnet is a good buy for someone looking for a good basic texting phone. The full keypad on the front of the phone took me a few days to get used to, and the fact that the buttons are close together is no problem for me because I have smaller hands. It has a lot less features than my Eternity, including no video taking capability and no custom text messaging alert tone (what's up with that?) and the camera quality is almost laughable (.3 Megapixels) but other than that, I have no complaint about it. Another thing I like is that I could barely hear my Eternity ring, but I have no problem hearing the Magnet even when I'm on the ... Great phone for texting and calling
This is the perfect phone for you if you need it only for texting and calling. It is pretty user friendly. I down-graded from an Iphone so in comparison i am dealing with totaly differernt applications and what is available. it offers email and a camera. :) i dislike that it is somewhat hard to text on the small keyboard buttons. I like that i do not have to pay for a data plan. it has a great battery, I charged my phone 3 days ago and it is still going strong.This is the perfect phone for you if you need it only for texting and calling. It is pretty user friendly. Keys are small, but very easy to use. The size and weight of the phone are good. Charges really good. Navigation us easy and instructions are clear. The phone take good pictures. The only thing that I don't like is the fact that in order to send a text, it takes a three step process.
