The HP Compaq LA2306x is the updated version of HP's LA2500 series. The big difference is this newer version now uses LED backlighting instead of CCFL, providing better energy savings, and longer life. The LA series is designed for commercial, enterprise, or small business use, therefore will be more robust then monitors used at home. They include 3 types of signal connections, VGA, DVI, or display port. In addition there is a connection to turn the monitor into a small USB hub, making a convenient connection if you want to plug in a flash drive near your work area. The image clarity is excellent, the colors are bright and true, and fonts appear clear and smooth. This will help reduce eye strain when using the monitor for long periods. Although the previous design had a brushed metal looking bezel, that made it look very classy, it tended to have problems by coming loose after a while. This new model is now all black, provided a neutral, subdued appearance that should look good on almost any desktop. Unlike most monitors for home use, the HP LA2306x provides the ability to turn 90°, providing a portrait view that would be good to use with document editing. The stand also includes height adjustment. At 23", this monitor provides enough room to work on spreadsheets. I've found 22" monitors too small at times, and some 24" monitors tend to stretch the image instead of being more proportional. All of these features should provide a long life and adaptable orientation that would work in a small or large business and at home too. This monitor has been discontinued, but if you can find one at a reasonable price, it should be an excellent buy.
