High gain, but not "insane"
I installed this antenna in my attic, about 20 feet off the ground. According to tvfool.com, I'm about 22 miles from the broadcast antennas in my area. The signal was adequate, but still experienced drop outs. I had to add an antenna preamplifier. The antenna was easy to assemble and install. I would buy it again and I would recommend it. It is si so much easier to use than those $40 monstrocities that look like surplus from the,star ship enterprise.I installed this antenna in my attic, about 20 feet off the ground. Bought this antenna to try to get a couple channels that are just out of range of my CHEAP Esky HG-996..those cheap built in Amp antennas with the Micky Mouse rotors built in.The Esky gets 30+ channels and this so called Fringe antenna made by Range Experts I bough. got 2 channels..added a Amp and got 9 channels..Took it to a buddy who lives on top of a mountain and put it up on 60 foot of tower and only got 13 channels.But his 40+ year old TV antenna gets over 60 channels.My buddy grew up in a family who owned a TV repair business and has put up 100's of TV antennas.His 40+ year old Parabolic antenna gets over 60 channels. Both of us live in high elevations with NOTHING blocking the antenna...We live between Pittsburgh Pa. and Youngstown,Ohio so Pittsburgh stations are ... didnt think it would work too good here in my area being surrounded by mountains...it got 15 channels with no amp..i am impressed because its a smaller antenna...good deal for the price

250 Mile Antenna
This antenna is everything described. When compared to a larger antenna, it performs very well. Side by side, this antenna receives stations the other one won't. VHF is a compromise, but most stations are now on the UHF band. Easy to install, light weight and all aluminum. Has built in 75 ohm F connector. 300 ohm adaptor not needed. End mount bracket makes it easy to install on the side of a tower, or mast. Top mount is not required. Not cut for FM broadcast band. This antenna is everything described. When compared to a larger antenna, it performs very well. Side by side, this antenna receives stations the other one won't. VHF is a compromise, but most stations are now on the UHF band. Our local cable provider (Spectrum) in Endicott, NY just kept raising prices and lowering services and the amount of product provided. It seemed like they were just giving us the neener-neener and flipping us the bird. I heard on the news yesterday that they turned off the cable to the local nursing homes because of some "mistake". Funny how it only hit the nursing homes and funny how it only came about over a contract dispute. But I digress. I ordered two of these because my brother saw what I was doing and wanted in on free TV. He will go on and get Netflix because he had many other channels and loves the History Channel while I only had the starter package and with the antenna I have MORE channels with BETTER reception! I bought a tripod and put it in my walk-up attic (just easier) and ...
