Very high-quality compass. I highly recommend!
While this item is heavy for a compass, it is extremely well-built and is not lacking of features. I have paid more for less. I liked this so much, I now own four of them! Building up hiking/camping kits for my kids.

to be fair, I did not purchase this compass for hiking, it's primary function is to align my satellite antennas and assist with radio direction finding tasks. I was pleasantly surprised to see how rugged it is with solid all metal construction. It is heavier and larger than I expected - which is a good thing to me since my old, lighter weight lensatic compass broke in multiple places and the larger dial on this unit is easier to read, stabilizes faster, and is easier to level out. I'm not sure I have a use for the height gauge, but it's there if I ever need it.
