Don't just defeat your enemies, “Whomp 'Em. "Take the role of Soaring Eagle, one of the first Native American video game protagonists, and collect a pouch full of totems. Nintendo took advantage of the increased color palette of later cartridges to create a bright and exciting game. Start with the simple introductory level, and then pick your next stage for adventure. Although each level is linear and you only have one life per stage, it has enough power-ups like health gourds that you can make it through without dissolving into frustration. Once you beat all the levels, you need to defeat the bosses again in the final battle and prove your worthiness to view the end sequence.

NES Whomp Em
This game is a good action platformer. The only thing keeping it from 5 stars is its length... It only takes about a half hour to beat it! What separates this one from others is that you have multiple weapons with different uses to get you through the levels just like megaman to progress and beat bosses but I've never seen them in any other NES game. The controls are tight and responsive and the music and sound effects are well above average in my opinion. The graphics are very appealing as well for an old game. I would pick this one up before the prices get even higher because I never seen this game in the wild before. Most importantly the game is very fun and it makes you want to keep playing to see what type of level/enemies/boss is next to defeat. I highly recommend this cartridge if ... Whomp 'em is one of those games that fell by the wayside because hey, did you remember reading about it in Nintendo power either? Neither did I. It's sort of a cool game, you play as a Native American boy who uses a spear, and can upthrust, downthrust(just like Link in Zelda 2) and can get new powers from defeating the boss of each stage. Kinda like Megaman, huh? Well, copying from Link and Megaman isn't necessarily a bad thing. What really kills the joy in this game is the incredible difficulty level. I don't know what it is, but avoiding the enemies is almost impossible. Even if you try and kill them, they will end you eventually. I'm serious, there's a continuous and never-ending onslaught of enemies coming at you. Because of this, finishing even just one stage is damn hard. Maybe ... It'll take days, maybe weeks before you get used to it. By then, you'll probably want to play something else and never pick up Whomp 'em ever again.

Luckily, you have infinite continues and you can start on any level at any time. The graphics are well-done, as are the sound effects and music.
