The M-Audio ProFire 2626 interface features 26-inputs and 26-outputs, as well as an onboard DSP mixer, sourced from up to 52 audio streams. The ProFire 2626 has award-winning Octane preamp technology for superb sound fidelity from the start to the end of the signal path. It utilizes renowned digital FireWire options and control panel software for maximum flexibility. The M-Audio ProFire 2626 has the necessary connectivity to be the heart of your home or professional studio. Its rock-solid stability and performance make it a sound purchase for musicians and music producers seeking to harness the ultimate tones and sounds.Looking at the back panel of the M-Audio ProFire 26262 interface, you can see a vast array of audio connection options. There are eight analog combo jacks that accept either XLR or 1/4-inch mic or line inputs. These each connect to one of eight preamps. The preamps utilize Octane technology to control gain, phantom power, and a 20-decibel pad on the front panel. Next to these are eight 1/4- inch TRS line-level outputs. These can be used to connect to an external mixer, processor, or preamp. These can also be used for surround mixing with up to seven satellite speakers and one subwoofer.On the front panel of the ProFire 2626, there are two more 1/4-inch instrument jack inputs. Those inputs take the place of the first and second channels on the back panel and are optimized for guitar or bass. There are two headphone jacks here as well, with independent volume controls for each. In addition to these, there are several digitized inputs and outputs on the interface. They accept RCA, MIDI, S/PDIF, BNC Word Clock, and ADAT I/O formats.With control panel software, you can configure each specific I/O channel and access the format of digital input or output options. You can also control the 18x16 DSP mixer and router. There are Windows 7, Windows Vista, and Windows XP drivers for DirectX plus ASIO, GSIF2 and MME/WDM, and Mac OS X drivers for Core MIDI and Core Audio. It is compatible with Pro Tools M-Powered 7.4 and beyond with the necessary updates.Properly understanding the M-Audio ProFire 2626 unit is absolutely critical to being able to utilize its various functions to full capacity. Owners can review the instructions to really get a good feel for the device and then dive in once they understand the basics.     Amazing Firewire Interface

    Love the simplicity, straightforwardness, ease of use, feature-rich, design of this Firewire audio interface. Nothing you don't need, everything you do. I wish I would have known about this particular audio interface 10 years ago. It's 2017 and this is still a great value. If you still use Firewire cards on your computers, there is no other audio interface that compares at the same price.

    Great product! Sounds great, chains two units easily and a terrific value.

    The ProFire 2626 is one of the best-sounding and easiest to use FireWire (IEEE 1394) interfaces around. The 8 channels of mic preamp sound great, and the ability to slave another unit via the ADAT bus makes 16 channels of analog almost too easy. I have two in my project studio recording rack. Why mix inputs down in an analog mixer when you can have each input have its own track for less money than a mixer? I've experienced virtually zero issues with the latest Windows 7 drivers for the 2626. Most of the gripes I hear from others have to do with not following the instructions on how to chain units. Do a search on the M-Audio web forum and you'll find them. The M-Audio ProFire 2626 is an outstanding interface at full price, and a steal at today's prices. Definitely ...

    Absolutely amazing! This interface can hold it's own in any pro studio.

    I love this thing. It sounds absolutely gorgeous. The mic pre's are very quiet with plenty of head room. As a stand alone mixer, the Profire shines. Phantom power and pads on all 8 analog inputs are a nice feature. The integrated direct inputs for instruments on channels 1 & 2 are so convenient. Connectivity is sweet. My primary purpose for purchasing this unit was as a firewire interface. I could not afford a mixing console with firewire capability, so I decided to convert A to D and work in the box. It is performing wonderfully with Cubase Essentials on a PC Audio Labs computer built in 2006 with Windows XP. I have tracked 8 drum mics without a hitch and the D to A conversion has not had any latency problems. . The current project is up to 18 tracks, and climbing, and is running ...

    Lots of possibilities

    Pros: Great price and quick shipment! Cons: M-Audio no longer supports this unit. So, I have to downgrade my OS. And that's not a huge problem since that computer is only used for one purpose. It''s a shame really since the unit itself is built really well and (eventually) will do exactly what I need it to do...Thanks a lot, AVID.
