I had a Coolpix L620 before - but it developed problems Still under warranty I returned it to Nikon 4 times and they never corrected it. So I traded it in for the B500 - a more powerful camera. But I really missed the fireworks show and the panoramic feature of the L620 - so I bought this one. For most jobs, the L620 is easier to operate and gives great photos. I am not having any problems with this particular one.

I purchased this Nikon L620 because of the lens. I was looking for a better optical zoom than the one I had with my Nikon L22. I like the feel of the camera in my hand and it is very similar to the feel of the Nikon L22. The controls are in the same location and the menu is also easy to use as I'm already familiar with it via the L22. However upon it's first trip to the field I discovered the lag time between focusing in on the object and being able to take the picture was quite long. The capture time between the time the shutter was depressed and the completion of the capture was also quite long. Even though I am happy with the great zoom of this camera I'm disappointed in these delay times.

I wanted point and shoot that would give me good photos, was quick and easy to use, at a reasonable price. This camera has fit the bill. The quality of the photographs has been very good, even in some difficult exposure situations such as very white snowy days. I found the focus to be a little slower than I would like, but not unexpectedly slow for the price. A lot of reviews talk about the high battery usage, but I have not changed the batteries yet after 2 months. I'm also not on vacation. I pull it out to take a few photos and then shut it back off. Since this is how I typically use a camera, I don't expect to be bothered by battery consumption. I always keep spares with me, so I am prepared. I'm fairly rough on a camera, taking it out in bad weather, letting it bounce around in a bag for long periods of time, and so far, so good. I have not played with some of the options that really look like fun as well as useful, but it gives me something to look forward to exploring later. So far, I am getting what I expected from the camera, with perhaps better than expected image quality.Read full review
I bought the L620 because my wife and I were looking for a simpler and smaller camera to take along on our trips, and to our family events. It is definitely a simple camera to operate, and those looking for a lot of manual controls will probably find it frustrating in that regard. It's also a slower shooter than more advanced cameras, but can be capable enough for posed photos of human subjects, or landscape and travel. The lens is surprisingly sharp, but the noise reduction is overly aggressive and can't be adjusted. I actually like the lower resolution 8MP photo quality better than the 18MP for detailed subjects. For the refurbished price of under $100 U.S., I can't complain. To be truthful, other people on photo sharing sites have rated my L620 photos more highly than those from my older DSLR. The L620 simplifies my shooting when I use it, and returns surprisingly good images. It's very comfortable to grip and carry with me. I recommend it for anyone looking for a compact, light, simple and inexpensive, but good shooter.Read full review
Excellent little camera. Software glitch locked it up once so far but removing batteries and reinserting them cleared it up and it's been working excellent ever since. Nice camera for the money. It sucks AA batteries very quickly is my only complaint. The camera indicates that the batteries are exhausted, when they are still very good batteries, just slightly lowered in voltage, so that would be my only complaint. Can be solved with getting some better high capacity rechargeable AA batteries, which I've not gotten to yet. Other than that, great little camera. Very easy to shoot good quality pictures with it's auto-focus logic and visual queue are very good. Easy for anyone to take great photos.
