Good general recording multiregional unit.
- Why you bought it I own this model already and lost the remote. I could not find another remote and this model is not being made now. In fact, it appears out of style for MultiRegion DVRs that place output on DVD-Rs and DVD+Rs that will play output on a NTSC monitor to be made. The trend in the US appears to be leasing these units to accompany fee TV, a waste of money for me. At the time there was a LG unit with more goodies on it, but the output only played on a PAL monitor, something I lack. I figured if the old unit went, I'd have another. Losing the remote has turned out to be a positive event, because now I have a DVR as either a spare or for 2 NTSC TVs. - What you like most about it It works for the basic functions I want, especially being a multiregional unit for both ... - Why you bought it I own this model already and lost the remote. My 'workaround' is to hit PAUSE allow a digital 'label' of the recording to be made my hitting the RECORD button, and hitting the RECORD button again. At least, this way, I can read the label made of the entire recording made. - Whether or not you would buy the product again Yes. It has nice recording quality and allows multiple options of video quality.

This one is the one that I like the best, out of the three DVDR's that I have! The best feature is that it is "region free", or region 0. The display lets you know what the thing is doing, (loading disk, ejecting disk, play, esc...)it makes the recorder easy to use. The one thing that I don't like is that all the higher functions are controlled off the remote. The face has basic controls, but you will need the remote to work most of the functions! (with this in mind don't loose the remote, it will cost you about $45.00 to replace it) After all is said and done, the DVDR is a excellent unit, and I am glad that I have bought it!This one is the one that I like the best, out of the three DVDR's that I have! Useful and Easy to Operate
I wanted a region free DVD player and recorder that I can watch many of my European and Asian DVD disks. This is a light and easy to install piece. Very compact and thin, and the color is not too garish. It arrived well packed and quite faster than I expected. In 15 minutes or so I was able to play a DVD and in an hour, I was recording directly from my monitor. I had to get a code from the net and make it completely region free and I also was able to get a newer firmware from the manufacturer site to update the set.The remote didn't come with batteries which was strange since most sets nowadays include batteries. The smooth and fast operation of the set is amazing, I can even erase and edit as I am recording. I will recommend this for the costs and the fair shipping prize, and I am sure I ... The recorder sucks. The reason for that is that is too slow. The Philips use a bit old fashion drive which cannot work on DVD DL on speed above 2.4. Most of the modern DVD DL disks support at least 8x. However the recorder has ability to work on PAL and NTSA and can be easily mede region free which gives it some value. In general I am not surprised that Philips stop making consumer electronics anymore - the abilities of this recorder and his sister model 3340 (with HDMI) are modest, open/close is turtle slow, load is very slow and in general is not something you want to have for a long time.The recorder sucks.
