You get what you pay for for...
While it does bring in some broadcast signals, both the AM and the FM band come in poorly, lots of static; the antenna does nothing. The slightest movement of the radio further deteriorates the tuner's ability to bring the signal in. Come evening when most AM stations are required to cut power, you can forget about using AM at all, no matter the signal strength- FM isn't much better. If you're even sort of serious about listening to the radio, there are much better options out there than this. Small, lightweight pocket radio does exactly what it needs to do.
This small, lightweight pocket radio is perfect for my needs. The reception was better than I expected, even without extending the telescoping antenna. With the antenna extended, FM reception was very good, considering it only uses two AAA batteries (sold separately). The volume output via the 3.5mm headphone jack was loud and clear. I purchased to listen to the radio broadcast at IndyCar races because I did not want to depend on mobile data. This does the trick and saves cell phone battery.
