The Sony Handycam CCD-TRV66 video camera has a 2.5-inch LCD color screen with SwivelScreen technology. This analog camcorder provides 440 lines of resolution and includes image stabilization. The Sony Handycam camcorder is lightweight at only 1.9 lbs, thus eliminating the need to worry about tired arms while recording longer videos. For added convenience, this analog camcorder also functions as a still-photo camera and offers digital zoom up to 360x. Additional features of this Sony Handycam camcorder include NightShot, infrared recording, multiple language selections, and LaserLink connection. A remote is included for easy playback and transferring of the recorded material to other formats such as DVD and VHS. Default recording formats for this camcorder include Hi8 and Video8. The Sony Handycam CCD-TRV66 video camera also has stereo recording and playback capabilities. An optical sensor resolution of 330,000 pixels on this Sony Handycam camcorder promotes clear image quality with both still photos and video recordings.

    Nice camera and very fair price

    I have a lot of old Hi 8 tapes and it's hard to find a player for them. This one works great and, if you aren't going digital, would be a good pick. I'm using it to digitize my Hi8 tapes using an ADVC 300 converter.

    Sony TRV66 & TRV87 Handycam Vision

    These are the most feature rich Hi8 / Hi8XR hybrid units Sony built circa 2000. I have two of each now and although I also have a Canon ZR80 miniDV and a brand new JVC 30GB HD Cam I would not give up any of my Sonys. I purchased my first TRV66 brand new after researching everything Sony offered at the time. As NRA's Heston remarked about handguns .. you'd have to pry my TRV 87s & 66s from my cold dead hands! They are picture and sound competitive today though no USB or Firewire connectivity as not available then.

    A Great Deal

    I am very pleased to have found this used camcorder to complete the transfer of my video archives from Hi8 to my laptop for editing. The camcorder, a Sony CCD TRV66, is was very good condition when I received it and it works wonderfully as I would want it to. It permits me to output video through my S cable as well as through standard AV cables. It is so very simple to operate when transferring video to my laptop. However, I have not moved in the direction of capturing new footage with it in this stage of using it. Therefore, I cannot confirm or deny what others have written about the strengths or weaknesses of the TRV66 in the capture process. Nonetheless, I look forward to many future benefits I use it to complete my video projects.
