Replacement for MTH Trains BG-4000004 backup battery
BG-4000004 backup batteries for certain PS-2 equipped engines are not available from MTH trains, which will no longer be in business past 2021. This is the correct spec battery but with a female connector on the end instead of a male connector. If the purchaser knows how to solder properly they can cut the white female connector off the end of the VTech battery, plug the white connector into the black ( or gray ) male connector of the dead MTH BG-4000004 battery, and desolder the black connector from its wires ( one at a time ) and solder the new battery's leads to it. Make sure the correct color wire goes to the correct pin ( which is why you should transfer them one at a time ) to keep the polarity straight and don't overheat the connections to the black connector which might melt the ...
