I followed the directions and I waited 1 day with this unit standing upright. I have it on a shelf next to a utility sink in my basement. I had to make the shelf wider to maintain 18 inches open space behind the unit. I am very happy about this purchase. I can see it draining into the sink and I can feel the difference in our basement.
