Portable and simple: stays put.
I've been without any kind of GSP mount for years. I just plugged it in, entered the address and laid it on the passenger seat. 'Picked it up to look at it once in a while if there was a question. I didn't wanna' fritz around with mounting a GPS on the windshield or dashboard. This thing makes life a lot easier since I don't require a GPS but maybe a dozen times a year. It lives in a small, flexible travel bag with the GPS unit when not in use. Most any GPS unit has adapters or brackets with a ball socket that'll fit this. Highly recommended.
