The movie that started a genre
I just purchased this movie for what feel like the 10th time. I loan it out and it never comes back, and that's okay. If you consider yourself a fantasy or science fiction fan, here is where it all began. Who can pass up Sean Connery as a Spaniard, not to mention the greatest sound track of all time. Queen did it all, and did it right. Go ahead and drop a few extra dollars on the special edition with the metal cover, and treat yourself to a timeless science fiction classic, you'll thank yourself.I just purchased this movie for what feel like the 10th time. Highlander is still one of my favorites.
After all these years the original Highlander is still one of my favorite films. The story is original, the actors do a great job, and the swordplay is pretty good. The trasitions from present day to flashbacks of past events is a great storytelling device. The Queen soundtrack only adds to the film. Each song fits the moment perfectly. As the DVD and packaging, I really enjoyed the movie tin for this issue but I wish the quality of the DVD transfer had been a little better.After all these years the original Highlander is still one of my favorite films. Highlander is a great film that uses both suspense, emotion, and action to draw the viewer in. It is abstract in some ways and in others very straight forward making it appeal to a broader audience. Christopher Lambert is amazing in the movie. He wonderfully plays the stern and perhaps depressed Conner MacLeod, an immortal fighting until the gathering. His costars, Sean Connary and Clancy Brown, do a fine job as well of playing their respective characters thereby giving depth and charm to the movie. And the soundtrack...WOW. Queen really outdid themselves on this one. The music is pure gold and just adds to the emotions of the movie. Brilliant. An amazing movie with amazing music leads to an amazing film experience!
