Looks nice and clean, all the meters and numbers are easy to read. I used to get distracted by all the pop ups like the note streaks. The song have all been redone, some for the better, some for the worst. Some of my favorite songs have been butchered tho. Raining Blood is now fairly easy on any setting, I loved that song because I couldn't beat it without a real fight. On the other end the song by Lamb of God has been cleaned up and is now a great song to play and not just a hassle. Lots of songs, I like that career can be completed on more than one difficulty and that all scores can be seen at once. The trophies are a little stupid aswell. They added a bunch of trophies for singing and playing with 4 and 8 people. Getting all the trophies in this game requires buying a full band worth of equipment. If the drums and mic worked better it wouldn't be an issue but they arent. The drums are too loud and you cant hear the game and the mic sets its star power off if you sing into it wrong, luckily I have a pop filter for recording. I feel like a doof using it tho. I got it for 13 bucks and think it was well worth the price. I wouldn't pay more than 25, I would buy GH Van Halen. Van Halen has worse songs, but the gameplay is the best Ive seen in a GH style game, lots of solid Hammer-ons and shredding maddness. A bunch of good shredding in smash hits too. I love shredding.Read full review
Personaly I like this game. Most of the tracks are from 80's and 70's, yeah I know too many old bands. I think the best Guitar Hero game for me is LEGENDS OF ROCK since you can face Slash and Tom Morello and its graphics are awesome. Guitar Hero Hits has new features to play the game, I like to use both hands to press colors in the guitar, that is cool. Good piece for your collection of Guitar Hero.
I like being able to play all four instruments on the songs off the earlier versions of GH. I love the fact that you can play expert + now on drums(the main reason I bought the game), but after you've played all the songs twice...you may find the game a bit boring. I would suggest this game to someone who doesn't have the ealier GH games or someone who is really into the vocals or drums. Not having any cover songs is great too, but Cowboys from Hell live...really,live??
I love this gaming franchise, I get to interact with people and have fun socially.Thought logically for a while and decided to get this game. Instead of going out and spending a $100 something bucks on a ps2 guitar controller and GH 1,2 and Encore the 80's. I did research on Smash Hits and it turns out that the songs from the previous games were done by a cover band. Smash Hits the songs are now master recordings, meaning original and can now play the drums or sing the songs you sang along with in the previous games and it only cost me $50.00. Why waste money on getting the old stuff when you can have the better version sung by the orignal band and the fan voted songs in the game. I would rather have Smash Hits. Graphics as technology is today, are getting better in this game series and definitely looking forward to playing the drums on some of the songs. Buy Smash Hits, yes you'll be disappointed that there is not every song from all the games but the ones that are the most fun to play.Read full review
