Picture Clarity is Poor
I bought this unit to replace a 12 year old one that finally broke. The old one recorded and played great DVD's, but this new one only records at 480i or 480p. In this new digital world, 1080i or 1080p HDMI is preferred. My wife is satisfied with the unit, so I guess I will quit complaining.

There are many DVD - VHS recorders on the market. Most people are like me and look for the best deal. Before buying a unit, make sure you understand all of the features. When I bought the first combo unit, I paid over $300 but it did live up to my expectations. I know that you can not copy original movies from DVD to VHS or VHS to DVD. On this unit, I tried to copy a VHS tape that I recorded on my VHS recorder over 8 years ago and the unit stated that it was protected???? Also you should understand what it means not to have a Cable in and Cable out! My first unit was easy to install. I remove the cable from the TV and plug it into Cable in on the unit and use a second cable to go from the unit to the TV.
