In Part One, Fundamentals, background is provided featuring the lives of Mahatma Gandhi and the author's parents that shaped the education Arun was to receive. In Part Two, Ashram School, the lessons Arun absorbed as a youth in the presence of his grandfather, primarily during a stay at Sevagram Ashram, which coincided with the last eighteen months of the Mahatma's life. Part Two also includes episodes from Arun's childhood in which his parents, Manilal and Sushila, demonstrated the wisdom of nonviolent parenting. In Part Three, Lessons From Life, a collection of observations drawn from Dr. Gandhi's application of the principles of nonviolence as an adult, both in India and the United States.
