The most recognizable franchise in video game sports returns for a 20th season of gridiron action in Madden NFL 09. The constant tweaking of the series continues as well, with the "09" entry unveiling an assortment of new features and updated animations. The new Family Play feature incorporates one-button controls and assisted player movements so gamers of every age can compete at the same level as seasoned veterans. Franchise Mode has been updated as well, with a new point system that rewards gamers for things like winnings records, player development, increased attendance, and solid draft picks. The Fantasy Mode introduced in Madden NFL 08 returns with three new league champions, and gamers will have to overcome each squad's unique skills to reach title games held at the new Champions Stadium.<br><br>The gameplay has been bolstered by new animations, including the ability to fluidly string together multiple jukes and direct receivers while scrambling. Quarterback escapability has also been enhanced by the new Avoidance Stick, which gives the QB the option of fleeing pressure by scrambling in four different directions. Players who enjoy accumulating stats, or those who just don't have enough time to play full games, can now make use of the new "SuperSim" feature to simulate single plays, quarters, halves, or entire games. And those looking for a more immersing, RPG-like experience can once again live the life of a professional athlete in Superstar Mode, where earning points in practice helps players advance up the depth chart and reach contract goals.

    In light of recent games, this is one of the better Maddens out there. The gameplay is outstanding, Franchise Mode is as addictive as can be and one of the most immersive experiences you'll see in an NFL game. Soundtrack is pretty good, which was standard for EA at this time. To any and all who find themselves plain disgusted by the current state of Madden, the mid 00s of Madden are your answer. 09 follows the critically acclaimed 08 with Player Weapons that don't make folks over powered in a bad way. For the full Franchise experience, play NCAA 09 and export the draft classes off of Dynasty. You end up with a far more balanced draft where you can find pretty good players in the middle to later rounds than if you go with the Madden drafts which are usually top heavy to my ...

    Great game, but.....

    As always, I think the EA Sports games are great, but it always seems that each one has its unique features that makes them great, but by the same token, they also have their unique features that make you say......wow, if only the feature from (this game) were included in this one, that would just take it to the next level. The one thing I could think of would almost be the melding of the NFL franchise with the NCAA one - in the context of in the NCAA franchise you can literally watch your players fatigue throughout the game, see the effect the momentum is having, good or bad so you know, as a coach what&apos;s going on. You have no clue in the NFL version. Another thing in the NFL version, maybe minor, but you can think of many more things this might apply to is weather. Until ...

    Changed the way I play Madden

    In the Madden series, unlike most people, I preferred o play the &apos;Superstar&apos; Mode. I really liked being able to progress a player my way. The last version I bought was &apos;06. In the &apos;09 rendition, you have to understand how to get your superstar to the point he is a starter. Making &apos;Superstar&apos; Mode a little more complicated to understand. IN &apos;09, I found that the &apos;Franchize&apos; Mode lets me control the team as a whole. Everything from the players up to the owners. That is a lot to control in my opinion, unless you are a hardcore football fanatic. I am not, but I do like it that way. I would suspect most would enjoy &apos;Play Now&apos; mode or a mode a little less involved. I have got to say that compared to &apos;06, there is a lot more ...

    New Year, Same Game

    I bought Madden 09 when I heard that it was available on the PS2 because I had owned Madden 07 and rather enjoyed it. I was expecting a to have changed in this version of the game but got pretty much the same version of the game that 07 was. Granted there were a couple new frills and thrills that have been added on to give the user hours of fun like the new skills, new players, and a better franchise mode. The game handles well, loading times have been lessened and the controls are pretty much the same. If you like Madden football or are new to the genre this is a good buy.

    Awesome Graphics

    As always Madden is a Hit. Number #1 with a Bullet The new easy read and high lighted menu is wonderful. The letters a big and bold. Great for a lifetime Baller as myself. They know we are geting older and wiser. I game that evolves with you. WOW!! John Madden is real life football off of the field. You become Owner, General Manager and Coach of your favorite team and make it happen!! The closest many will ever come to being a real NFL Head Coach. Also being able to upload college Seniors From NCAA 09 on to the John Madden platform takes fantasy football to the limits. John Madden Football is definitely #1 on all gaming systems. The release day for John Madden Football should be an annual Holiday!! This season I will rule the video gridiron!!!
