The lens is a little bigger and heavier than one would expect for a 50mm prime lens. But it is worth it for the detail, contrast and sharpness of your photos even at 1.4. Super fast lens. It is also built to a very high standard and is a joy to use.

Been using this on 1D MK iii and 5D MK ii. Comparing to Canon L lenses. Sharp sharp sharp, but that is technical. Just magical look. Colours are beautiful, bokeh is superb. I like shooting night with available light. Perfect. Live music with stage lighting, portraits in a bar, gorgeous. 1.4 gives the dof that I love up close. Perfect focus on both bodies, fast. I have Canon 50mm STM (good for the money) and a manual Carl Zeiis Jena from Belarus (don’t bother). Both are junk compared to this. Just buy the damn thing. Weighs a tonne.

Absolutely blown away by the sharpness of this lens. Fairly new to photography but have taken some amazing shots with this beauty on my 5d mark iii.

This 50 is as good as it gets. It's a must have for anyone serious about photography. It is a heavy lens, though feels more controllable than the smaller 50's. It produces the sharpest images of any 50mm lens, apart from the Swiss which is many times the price for little gain in IQ.
