About this product

Product Information

While its ratings never matched those of Johnny Carson's THE TONIGHT SHOW, Dick Cavett's 1960s and '70s late-night talk show was a staple of the era's pop culture, known for the charm and wit of its host as well as for the quality of its guests. This collection presents 12 episodes that showcase the glamorous parade of movie stars that visited Cavett's show, including Katharine Hepburn, Fred Astaire, Bette Davis, Kirk Douglas, Robert Mitchum, Marlon Brando, Groucho Marx, Alfred Hitchcock, and Orson Welles.

  • Classic Talk Shows from Talk Show Golden Age

"Hollywood Greats", a best of collection from The Dick Cavett Show, is an entertaining and informative set of shows originally broadcast late 1960s/early 1970s. The focus in this set is on Hollywood legends and Cavett's interviews are far more revealing than anything Carson did, but that was the difference in the two shows. • Well worth the price!

A wonderful collection of interviews with some of the great personalities of the 1970s. Dick Cavett is an annoying, self-adoring interviewer and it a great pleasure (well worth the cost of the set) to listen to Kate Hepburn, a great lady and a far superior intellect, telling her host to shut up and just listen for awhile.
