In this intelligent, sensitive sci-fi film from England's legendary Hammer Studios, Peter Cushing is Dr. John Rollason, a botanist on a Himalayan expedition with his wife (Maureen Connell). Mrs. Rollason is unaware that John is actually awaiting the arrival of another expedition led by his gruff colleague, Dr. Tom Friend (Forrest Tucker), which is to explore the mountains in search of the half-man/half beast Yeti. Environmental hardships and disagreements between members of the expedition take their toll, but the men do discover that the Yeti does exist, and there is much more to their kind then the men originally thought. Smart and suspenseful, this modest gem should please genre fans. This was Cushing's follow-up to Hammer's hugely successful THE CURSE OF FRANKENSTEIN (1957).

    Snow capped sc-fi 50's chiller

    The film is unique in the sense that the antagonist is not revealed until the very end of the film! This makes the British sci-fi horror film engaging, realistic expeditions, remote locale, religious mysticism.

    The abominable Snowman of the himalayas

    It has nostalgic value for me as it was one of the early sci-fi/horror films I ever saw (in the theater). I have always been a Peter Cushing and Forrest Tucker fan, and they will not disappoint here. An intelligent film, one of the best of the 50's, though rarely if ever shown on TV. The "creatures" are not your mindless beasts, and are subtly and slowly introduced to us, both philosophically as well as visually! A great one.

    An interesting classic from Hammer

    This is a classic from a studio (Hammer) that made some very entertaining and imaginative films during the late 50's through the mid-70's. If you like your scary movies in black and white, then this is for you. The actors are all competent as is the case in the most of the studios films, everything else is top notch too. It's fun, that's why they call it entertainment.
