    LaCrosse wind sensor replacement

    This was a replacement for a sensor that froze up due to salty air. This unit once I cleared out the ID of the original sensor worked flawlessly and restored my weather station to original condition. I am keeping the rotating part sprayed with a bit of WD 40 to avoid the coorosion in the future. So yes, this was perfect for me.

    This new anamometer is working great.

    This is a replacement for the same that failed after about 2 years of use. Ants, spiders, and bees had gotten into the failed unit through the side vents likely causing its demise. I taped a piece of nylon screening around this new unit to keep the buggers out. Otherwise, take it apart and clean often.

    Great when it works, but questionable on waterproofing.

    My original unit lasted about 2.5 years until I tried to change the batteries and found the contacts rusted. My replacement unit came and was dead on arrival. The subsequent free replacement worked like a charm. Other than these problems, the unit works well.

    Bearings and assembly screws need to be hardened for coastal environmentnIt

    Replaced entire unit after approx. one year in service. After a successful install, I disassembled the old one and the results are as follows. 1. The screws on the bottom were stainless, rest of screws in top of unit were zinc coated and were rusted severely. 2. The wind speed shaft bearings had froze and further examination found bearings full of rust. With the beach environment and the number of revolutions, the bearings need to be sealed bearings.

    Refurbished units

    This unit looks in new condition but it had been refurbished. The problem is it works intermittently not sure the original problem was fixed completely. Not sure even a new one is worth the money, my original lasted just about a year and same problem no communications
