We have used the La Crosse Wireless Temperature Sensor for years. We have one outside to see the outside temperatures and one in our peacocks house to see the temperature in his pen. We can see when it gets too cold and then we turn on a heater to keep our peacock safe.

Although these devices are specifically intended for OUTDOOR temperature sensing, they are subject to corrosion and failure after a few years of service, even when installed in a relatively sheltered place. I have several LaCrosse weather stations that use the TX6U sensor for 15 years or so. For longest operational life, they must be protected as much as possible from rain, snow, ice, humidity, sunlight, and wind. That's a tough objective for an outdoor sensor!! LaCrosse should have done a better job of sealing openings around the battery door, coat sealing the circuit board against moisture and humidity, and sealing the opening around the sensor device itself. I have purchased at least eight TX6U replacements over the years, so I guess I am glad they are still available. I just wish they could stand up to typical outdoor operating conditions!Read full review

It was so easy to set up and works great. One outside sensor actually controls three inside units; two atomic clocks plus the accompanying inside/outside temperature included with the sensor. A nice surprise and excellent service!

I got this to replace the unit for my Sky Scan Atomic clock. After following the provided instructions, it quickly connected with my clock and is working perfectly. I was pleased to find a bonus display unit that shows in and outdoor temperature that also connected and works great! So far there are no problems and I am quite happy with it.

This sensor is great at what it does,, but to me there is a huge problem. One would think an OUTSIDE temp sensor would have to be weather proof, right? This one is not! I guess it can handle fog, and even a light mist, but not rain. That means one must try to find a place under a roof and in the shade to mount it. I didn't know that and ruined my first one by mounting it where it got rained on.( I guess that fact is in the instruction book, but not bold and I missed it) Now I have the replacement inside an open zip lock freezer bag still mounted on the fence. That's a poor solution, but in my opinion I should not have to protect an outside weather sensor from the weather.... I know my next weather station won't be this brand for this reason.
