About this product

Product Information

The Nikon 105 mm AF Micro is a manual focus camera lens ideal for capturing extremely sharp and detailed macro images. Using patented Nikon close-range correction lenses or CRC lenses, this 105 mm F/2.8 lens is designed to maintain its optimum performance while the focus or distance of the lens is changed or adjusted. The ability to focus from infinity to 1:1 allows this Nikon camera lens to capture every detail of an image no matter how small. The specifications on this Nikon camera lens feature nine elements in eight different groups. The Nikon 105 mm AF Micro features a seven-bladed diaphragm for detailed focusing on images that appear out-of-focus. A variety of Nikon cameras including the D40, D40x, and D60 are compatible with this 105 mm F/2.8 lens. The Nikon 105 mm AF Micro lens is great for capturing and magnifying tiny images to create high quality, high contract, and detailed photos.

The Sony transmitter was received very quickly in a professionally-packaged box. I had an issue which might have been due to the part not working properly so I called the seller. The problem did NOT have anything to do with the part. And the person I spoke with was tremendously helpful and pleasant to me. Great people to deal with !!

Great ThinkTank product. Arrived in perfect condition. The seller was quick to ship my order. Despite USPS's mishap in delivering my package, the seller took the initiative to follow up with multiple inquiries to USPS. They kept me in the loop and made sure that I received my package in time for my travel. I was impressed with their excellent customer service and will definitely use them again in the future.

great performance; only works in AF mode with high-end Nikon cameras

for what it is, it is phenomenal. I bought it because it was advertised as a D-series lens (which I needed, as I have a Nikon1 with the FT-1 adapter), but it is actually a pre-D AF series lens. I cannot auto-focus this lens because I have the wrong camera (camera needs to have an auto-focus motor integrated into the camera). Now on to the awesome features. It has 1:1 magnification at its closest focus distance, and the image is very contrasty and with great accutance, resolution, and color reproduction, all the way to 2.8. Color fringing is minimal up to F4, and noticeable but easily correctable in post at f2.8. Focus throw is a respectable 180 degrees, but I prefer a bit more for accurate focus, especially in macro focal distances. Image resolution and accutance is phenomenal at ...

  • Solidly Built, Tack Sharp

While this version (f2.8 AF-D) doesn't have the same number of elements and groups as the newer (AF-S) version, and it's not as quiet, it's still among the sharpest of Nikon's lenses. Originally designed for film cameras, it has transitioned nicely to digital. I get very sharp details at 1:1, and the images are stunning. Right now, I'm using it with my D750, and although the autofocus is not as fast as the newer models, and since I don't use it for action, it delivers quite adequate focusing speed. I also have several other "D" autofocus lenses (20mm f2.8, 24mm f2.8, 50mm f1.4), and they're all part of my shooting battery.

  • Amazingly sharp close ups.

I bought this lens as a trial with the intention of selling it on if I didn't like it. Now I can't leave it alone! It spends more time on my D7000 than any of my other lenses a match made in heaven! Tack sharp images at any aperture setting, even wide open. I tried close up attachments/ filters on other lenses, but no comparison to this, a dedicated no compromise macro lens, and very solidly built. It happens to be great for portraits too. And not too bulky or heavy. Only drawbacks, it will only autofocus with higher end Nikons with built in autofocus motor. IE, not with the D3xxx or D5xxx series. Autofocus is a bit slower than the latest AFs lenses too, but I can live with this. A pleasure to use.

  • Superb legacy lens for digital cameras

This is an excellent macro lens, overlooked by many. It is a fraction of the cost of a new Nikon lens and works just as well. Autofocus is not up to today's standards but you will be using manual focus for macro anyway.

  • Great lens. Super crisp images. Tips for D3100 use.

Great lens. But you should know that when using a D3100 or any model which doesn't have a focus motor built into the camera body that this lens will only work in manual focus mode. Super crisp macro pictures, and really nice for portraits too. Real metal housing. Feels so well made compared to the cheaper plastic lenses the camera came with. When you first mount it onto a D3100, it should be set to f32. After installing it, slide the little lock switch to the orange locked position. Then the camera body can tell the lens what aperture to use without seeing any error messages. I usually put it in Aperture mode, and manually pick an aperture that suits the lighting conditions, then focus manually. Look at speed to see if it makes sense for what you're doing. It has a pretty ...
