Heres the shorter version of the Beatles 1962-1966 and 1967-1970. Why? well it's one cd instead of four from the 1973 red and blue "greatest hits" packaged version. By combining the British and American No.1 best selling singles of the Beatles ( 20 best sellers in USA and 17 in Great Britain) thus the name NO.1 we have an excellent "greatest hits" album by the Beatles in a shorter version In 1982, Capitol Records came out with a similar version called THE BEATLES'GREATEST: 20 Number One Hits that is now out of print and is a very sought after collectors item if you can find it. This album is terrific and shows the pictured sleeves of all the rare Beatles singles in the booklet that comes in the cd. But unlike the Americans, the European's have also released this cd on a limited vinal with an enlarged version of the same booklet. So if you enjoy this great cd version of the Beatles greatest No.1 singles, then try and get the album vinal version as well for nostalgic purposes to enjoy view the enhanced version of this great Beatles cd and the booklet. ALSO: this cd spent 5 weeks on the Bill Board Best Selling 200 Albums Chart in late 2000. Giving the Beatles their 19th best selling album which is another record the Beatles set and 1 just padded the record book as well. The closest competitor to the Beatles reign in that department are the Rolling Stones with 10 number one best selling albums. And that proves the Beatles are in a CLASS ALL THEIR OWN!!!!Read full review
A compact disc including number one hits from the Beatles. Wonderful to listen to a whole disc comprised of nothing but musical genius put out by a band that, arguably, defined Rock and Roll! Since I graduated high school in 1979 (well after the group disbanded), much of my interest in their music be "historical appreciation", but I think I do remember when they were hits. (I just wasn't old enough to independently listen to music, at that time). If you like rock music, at all, I would characterize this compact disc as a "must have", unless you already have a large number of Beatles discs. Even in that case, I would highly recommend it. It is, basically, a superb distillation of hits, in my opinion.
This CD is a surefire winner all-around. For those not at all interested at taking a stab at The Beatles individual CDs (or LPs), this is quite an excellent package. All of their 27 #1 HITS from BOTH the United States and the United Kingdom together on one disc! For those who wish to delve a bit deeper into some of The Beatles secondary (or minor)hits, the two compilation Cds (originally on LPs, Cassettes Reel-To Reels,& 8-Track Tapes titled "The Beatles: 1962-1966" (Red Album), & "The Beatles 1967-1970" (Blue Album)are a real winner, but then again, for those who wish to have just a satisfactory compilation on one disc...The Beatles 1 will fill the bill nicely. Buy a copy and sing your heart out all ye fans of Beatledom!
Do you like music?...classic rock and roll?....music from the '60s and the '70s?...The Beatles?...the number one hits from The Beatles? If you answered yes to any of the above, then The Beatles 1 CD is for you. All The Beatles number one hits are here on one CD. Rather you're old enough to remember when these songs first hit the airwaves or you are just now hearing them for the first time, the music of the boys from Liverpool, England is truely something special. I was certainly sad when I realized my CD holder and 25 CDs had been stolen. So I rushed to Ebay to replace the CDs that I lost. You guessed it. The Beatles 1 was the first CD I wanted back in my collection. Be sure to have all these wonderful old songs in your collection. They are truely timeless.
CD arrived in 15 days which is reasonable for its trans-Atlantic trip. CD playing surface has multiple cosmetic scratches which did not affect playability.
