Nice price on a parts machine, well packed & shipped swiftly! But seller's ad lacked a full description, which would have been nice. With only two photos, it was difficult to assess the item's true physical condition -- in the end, it was in much rougher shape than I thought. I was surprised to see major cracks in the back plastic after delivery. The cracks line up with fuzzy features in the seller's second photo, even if they're not obvious as cracks in that image. Still a good buy, overall.

    replacement

    I bought this GPS for my wife to replace a much older Garmin model that she dropped and broke. I also have a Garmin in my car, but it's a good bit older than this one too. Since I bought it for my wife, it's hard for me to review it, other than to day, she reports to me that it seems to do everything that it's advertised to do. When we first got it, it took a little over 3 hours to update the maps, which was actually pretty quickly compared to some of the updates I've done on my own (and her old) GPS units. We had one update on an older model that took 14 hours. I can't speak for this model, but I have a 1450 in my car, and I had to limit the area to the South Eastern U.S. in order to make the map updates a few years back. I am assuming this newer GPS has a good bit more memory than ...

    Map updates are NOT sufficient

    I have other garmins and gps systems are pretty reliable, but this one was for my wife and after I updated the maps via website the maps are still very lame and do not often give me the best directions. One unhappy customer

    Find your way

    This Garmin is easy to program, directions are easy to follow as the arrows show you when next turn is approaching. The voice commands are not excessive. Attractions in Area are easy to find. The lifetime maps is a great perk. Will always get a Garmin instead of a navigation system in my car, plus it's portable for when I travel out of state and rent a car.
