    Good for beginners

    I think this is at the low end of range finders. Upon buying it I realized that the 550 means that is the maximum range it can go out to. Within a day of having it I realized that many things I needed this for were beyond 550 yards. So I quickly outgrew it, and I am now in need of something more powerful.

    Must Have in the Hunting Pack

    The Nikon ProStaff 550 is exactly what it states. Lightweight, compact and accurate. I bought one and took it Ibex hunting. 2 Nannies down! Thanks Nikon! Pro's - Lightweight, Compact(fits in a pant pocket), accurate, easy to use. Con's - The view is small, dark, limited range, limited size of target that it can pick up. All in all a Keeper

    Nikon Prostaff 550 - the perfect Gift for Yourself !

    My purchase of this used "mint condition" item on Ebay was just perfect. The Nikon Prostaff 550 is as simple as it gets. Power on, point, shoot & wait for range. Farther away the object, the little longer to get a response/read-out. Crisp viewing .It ranged a 'really small' shed @ 663 yds. My Savage 93R17 won't hit accurately that far ,so no problemo. It can't possibly get any simpler or more durable...just what Dr. Me ordered !

    Great value for what it does.

    This is so dead simple to use. You look through the reticle at what you want to find the range to, and press the button. It will tell you the range in yards or meters. It tells me that the 100 yard shooting range I go to is actually 103 yards, so I am not sure what to believe, but I'm guessing the rangefinder is right. My only objection is that it takes a somewhat hard-to-find battery, the CR2. When I did find the battery, it was $16 for two of them, way too expensive.

    You can't argue with Nikons reputation, factory refurbished means you save.

    This is my first rangefinder. I've owned several Nikon cameras and have never had a problem. This worked as advertised. Clear, simple accurate. I used it at sunrise. It performed flawlessly. Low light conditions, first time using it, ranged shot hit. Refurbished, looked and performed like new.
