    Older Model with Great Features

    This is our second TG1. Lost the first in NYC, but liked it so much purchased the exact same model. I have a TG860 also, which works fine, but both my wife and I prefer the TG1. The large aperture is much better got taking low light underwater shots. Save yourself some money and purchase a used TG1 that is in good shape and you won't be disappointed.

    Handy Camera!

    This is the second one Ive owned. Does everything I need it to do and more. Great picture quality and some pretty awesome features. I would definitely buy another if something happens this one.

    IDEAL KNOCKAROUND CAMERA

    I'm a serious photographer and have a camera with me everywhere I go. I have an SLR, a large ultra ultra zoom point and shoot and a few other small point and shoot models. This Olympus TG1 has replaced my Olympus Tough 8000. They have the same 12 mp resolution, but the TG1 has an f/2.0 lens and a lot of sophisticated capabilities. The Olympus Tough cameras have great macro capabilities, including a built-in LED light for ultra close-ups. Buying a rugged camera is usually a safe bet because they can absorb rough handling, immersion in water, etc. The owner of the one I bought took excellent care of it,and it didn't have a scratch on it. For an always-with-you camera, this is a good way to go.

    A great camera for what I was made to do.

    The TG 1-iHs is a great camera for what it was made for. I also have DSLR camera that iuse when I want higher quality photos. The Olympus is great for an underwater abusable camera. One of the main reasons I bought this tough camera was because of the relatively small shutter lag. Many of the tough type cameras were reakly bad for shutter lag. This camera is awesome. I think it is rated at a .3 second shutter lag. It is not noticeable. The one thing I have adjusted is the gps. It stays on when yoy shut the camera off and drains battery. It was easy to turn off. Great American camera.

    Its a Keeper!

    Granted, lots of reviews delve into the very techie end of the spectrum. However, this review does not because really a purchase comes down to personal preferences. This camera seems to hit all the right notes in regards to functionality and form. Outwardly the color sets it apart from the competition. The irridescent gray/violet color is so attractive. The menu options are plentiful but isn't overkill. Once one spends some down time looking over the owners manual one is able to grasp the scope of what it can and can't do. Take it on a field test that way one can get a hands on feel for it. Definitely this camera allows the amateur to "get their feet wet" with a semi-custom camera. Two other optional waterproof lenses allow one to expand their horizons. The pictures are vibrant and life ...
