I enjoyed the sharpness ad details in distant scenes of this Bluray version...it helps enlarge the video canopy bringing a deeper resonance to the film itself on panoramic scene's in Europe / Germany> The HD audio is spectacular with balanced sound and vocals> Although The English HD audio voice-overs where done very poorly and actually ruin the films characters, conversations sounding like a dating game show instead of individuals> The orginal Deutch voices are prefered.> Not many extra's I'd be interested in.
If you have the original DVD and play it on a Blu-Ray player, the up-conversion makes it comparable to the Blu-Ray version. I think simply because of the fact that it was filmed 10 years ago and was an independent film, it's on the grainy side. With the lack of special feature upgrades and the fuzzy picture, I do not recommend the Blu-Ray version. Stick with the original DVD.
This is a great movie. Besides staring my love, Franka Potente, this uses some unique cinematic elements that you won't find anywhere else. If you only speak English, watch it in English the first time around so that you are not distracted by subtitles. Then watch it in german so that you know the what's going on but can still get the inflections and emotions from the spoken german language.
Great flick!
