This replaces a Cuisinart burr grinder that has been cheapened to the point of absurdity. This Bodum unit works very well but time is the critical issue and we'll see. The feature set is practical and seems to grind very well. The glass grounds jar is nice but suffers from static issues from the grind and some of the grind makes it's way outside.....what are you gonna do? it's a coffee grinder ! Overall this thing is great so far !

Sadly quit after 2 grinds. Went back to old Capresso no issues. Bodum still has not responded Seattle Coffee gear says I need better grinder for flavored beans.

Unlike most burr grinders, this one is special because it has a GLASS container to catch the ground beans. It is sealed between the glass and machine by a perfectly fitting rubber cover so there is practically no mess when removing the glass container from the machine to dispense the ground coffee. This one feature alone makes this grinder a worthwhile purchase. It also costs much less than comparable grinders that do the same job. I personally only use the fine grind setting so I can't speak of the other settings. The only drawback is that might not last beyond 5 years. I've read reviews of it breaking after a few years and my first Bodum Bistro did break after about 5 or 6 years of daily use. However, at this price, the next comparable burr grinders are easily 2-4 times the price. This is my second machine and I will gladly pay for a new machine every five years just because of how convenient and clean this machine is.Read full review

I like it a lot. I upgraded from a very loud grinder, this is much quieter. It's also much easier to clean, the grounds go straight down into a glass container where they don't really stick to anything, whereas my old grinder shot them out sideways and would get the finer powder stuck in the formed plastic top. Those two things alone make it so much nicer to use. If either of those problems sound familiar or like something you'd like to avoid, I would definitely reccomend this coffee grinder.

I've had three of these, over the years, and they usually last a long time: 4 to 10 years. Pretty good if you pay the right price.
