I've only had this unit for about 10 days but it definitely lets me know when Spectre and POP frequencies are nearby. Though I haven't had to test the validity of it's detection, it's pretty awesome with all the features it has. Don't waste your money getting a subscription for the navigation, speed confirmation deal... If you get tagged, your detector isn't going to be admissible in court anyway and arguing on the roadside won't help either. Make sure to read the manual and change the City Mode settings which many are defaulted as OFF or decreased sensitivity. The unit itself is rather large, bigger than the footprint of an iPhone so mount it correctly with a solid suction cup universal mount from a place like Frys.com ($9.99) but know that you will need to beef up the flexible arm with some velcro to keep it from wobbling and possibly add some Gorilla Glue to the inner area of the suction cup where it meets the plastic frame as the mount isn't that sturdy. The spiral power cord is too short so buy a longer, non-spiral power cord and tuck it under the headliner or along the dash to secure in a fuse or sodder to the cigarette lighter (removal/installation required but not hard).Read full review
I LOVE this radar! It picks up pretty dag on far! It has saved me a couple of times for the two days that I've had it already. The only thing that I don't like it, is the fact that it's kind-of bulky. But, with it's range, features, and how many bands it is, as well as the option for the AURA adapter, it FAR outweighs just being a bit bulky! Also, it 'locks' into the clip that holds it onto the windshield. And it works BEAUTIFULLY! Easy to take off, and easy to put back on, and it STAYS on!
Overall, this is a good radar detector, and if you can get it for a good price, so much the better. I have found that it's not quite as sensitive as some reviewers on Amazon and other sites claim -- e.g., I've yet to have it detect a police car over 1/2 mile away. Like most of these units, it also picks up other detectors, garage door openers, some alarm systems, and the like. But I'd rather be safe than sorry. I'm happy with the purchase and would recommend it to others, but don't expect some incredibly sophisticated device.
I have had several Cobra Radar Detectors over the years. After a number of years technology has improved to give the customer the most up to date protection available. The touch screen technology will be around for a long time as it is easy to use!
I decided to buy this product because it is one of the most complete, as described in the advert (15 bands), but it does not detect speed cameras in my city. I tried everything, I followed the manual correctly. I activated all frequencies, mode city and tried highway, making the two circles calibrated correctly, and passed several times by the radar, back and forth and so remained silent. At times he announced a warning and radar was not there. (False alert). So I can not trust an outfit like that. Unfortunately for me, the equipment did not work properly!
