I almost sent it back had it not for a friend IT helping me out. On line Protronix has no help or drivers. Next time I'll stick with an item I can research first.

Doubled my internet speed
The motherboard ethernet port on my Windows 7 Pro 64 bit desktop had lost the speed that it used to have so I installed one of these LAN cards. It needed a driver so I went to RealTek and downloaded and installed a Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller Driver for Windows 7. After a reboot I plugged the ethernet cable into the new card and immediately started seeing speeds over 800Mbps. I am very happy with this card and would highly recommend it. RealTek had several drivers available for various operating systems. Just good enough....
The PCI-e card was installed and it resolved my issue with an integrated 10/100Mbps adapter on my HP desktop PC (Windows 7 64-bit) that was dropping an upgraded cat5 connection. The computer is recognizing the PCI-e card at 100Mbps and I expected it to show 1000Mbps based on the hardware & driver. Could it be that the internet speed was auto-detected at is less than 100Mbps? An internet speed test is showing a download speed of about 40Mbps. The PCI-e network card did not have any instructions included with it which would have been a problem for a newbie.
