This was described as used but, in reality, it appears it was a floor demo model which is even better! The condition was outstanding and everything works like new. Very pleased with this purchase. I have not been disappointed.

A nice unit for burning DVD copies of your own recorded vcr tapes. You still have the convenience of using it as a VCR or a DVD burner. The best parts I like is that I can record music on to DVD on the "SEP",(8 hour) setting and the dvd can be played on a computer or other player. Also the best feature I found is being able to record tv shows via the built in tuner and timer and have the choice of recording to a VCR tape or to a DVD disc. I have not tried to copy to a dual layer DVD, so I do not know if you can do dual layer discs in this unit, but the vx-530 you can, maybe that is the difference between the newer model, I didn't see much else. The only disapointment I have is that it does not tune the digital channels, But for the money, this is still a nice unit. I have really been working this thing almost non stop and it is still going fine. Just do not block the fan in back and make sure you set the unit on a smooth surface. There are vent holes in the bottom for air to be drawn in by the fan, if you have it sitting on a padded or carpeted surface, air will not be able to be circulated. the sony rdr-vx515 is just the perfect machine to transfer your private home videotapes to dvd format. But most important you must have the original remote due to the fact that a replacement model other than the original will not allow you do use the machine as intented with all of its transfer options, of which some are required. The manual comes in handy as well especially when you need to add your titles to the dvd before finalization. I now have 7 of these machines as I use them in my transfer business with absolutely great results. If you need your tapes transferred email me for details. A fair price for this unit is up to but no more than about $ 100.00 for a fully working unit. Some units are now dying with bad dvd burners that wont transfer so make sure you buy one in which all functions are tested before you buy. Again, this is a great machine if you get the original remote and operators manual.
