Mic stand adapter for cameras makes good sense
This adapter not only provides a convenient carrying handle for the Zoom Q3HD and similar cameras/recorders, but it also allows mounting the camera to a microphone stand when you have no tripod available, or a tripod gets in the way. By putting the adapted recorder on a mic boom you can position it in ways that you cannot position a tripod. It's a good, sensible investment.

Good alternative to a tripod
Tripods are cheap and pretty stable, but the advantage of this mic stand adapter is you can place the camera at various different angles with a boom stand. I use it to photo products from above to sell online, which a tripod wouldn't work for.

perfect for ambient recording
This is a great tool for recording live sound, be it indoors or outdoors. Just slip it into a regular mic clip (attached to a mic stand) and you can aim the mics whichever way you want. I've found it to be very useful for recording band practices and events.
