    Motorola MG7550

Very easy to set up. Short phone call to Comcast, actually handled over their chat line, on registering the modem. Modem worked right off but registering will help make sure you are getting the speed for specific tier of service. My upgrade from a DOCSIS 2.0 modem increased my speed to above my expected tier speed level. Old modem would constantly drop Wi-Fi signal, the MG7550 has consistently remained active and range has been outstanding.

    Looks Good, But!!

I originally gave this a 5 star rating. There were a few issues setting it up with Comcast, but all went well, for a couple of days. Then it was rejected by the network and hasn't provided internet access since. Comcast states a firmware update is needed, still waiting.

  • Works with Spectrum

MG7550 works well with Spectrum ISP. Setup took about 30 minutes. Typically may have to change the MAC Address for your Internet Provider to connect to the MG7550. It is not an Universal Plug N Play device. It is Dual Band as 5GHz performs better than 2.4GHz. Found in the Motorola Home URL that setting the Bandwidth to 40MHz works better than 20MHz or 80MHz. Signal Range is okay in a small home. Believe the range limit to be 40 feet. When changing the SSID Name and Password the MG7550 will reset when saved and will Disconnect you from Internet and you will need to Log in with new SSID name and Password that was just saved. You will need to log into your ISP account as part of the Setup.

  • Not asking too much to make the keycode more legible. Thanks in advance.

The product was easy to set up, however because the pass code/key information was not clear, I lost a couple of days not being able to use the modem. That was a disappointment. When the cable guy was finally able to came by, he left my house within 10-15 min. the "I" I kept using in my key code was suppose to be a 1. He said it is also difficult to differentiate the Motorola brand "O" from the 0 (zero). Very frustrating.

  • Save yourself a monthly rental fee with your internet provider!

I am finally saving approximately $8 to $10 per month by no longer renting a modem from my internet provider (Spectrum/Time Warner). I should have done this YEARS AGO! I would have saved hundreds of dollars by now. It was super easy to set up, it looks nice, and my speed went from 5 to 10 Mbps to 30 to 40 Mbps. The modem that Spectrum/Time Warner was renting to me was HORRIBLE! It was because of the constant lag and inability to connect several phones/laptops/smart tv's at the same time without errors that made me finally make the decision to look into buying my own. This Motorola MG7550 was a great buy! Glad I stumbled onto it. You won't go wrong!
