This model is not the heavy bass some produce but easily hidden and adequate sound. Along with a pair of satelights it creates good balance.

Good for a small room provided you run an external subwoofer amplifier
This is a passive subwoofer which works by getting power off your speakers. In this application the sub will come off sounding weak, even when you use their intended speakers with them. What I've found to really make this subwoofer come to life is to power them via external means and use the LFE channel off your receiver. These really don't need a ton of power to get working but I'd shoot for something with around 70-100 watts just so you have breathing room, any older stereo amplifier with analog inputs can be made to do this job really so it doesn't have to be an amplifier dedicated only to subwoofers. Once externally amplified it actually sounds kind of nice, don't expect thunderous floor shaking bass out of this or even for it to go down to 20Hz (PS: most $500 and lower subs don't) ... Great sound from little speakers
I love these speakers. I get a great sound from these little speakers. I hid the sub woofer under an end table. When I turn on the music my guests are floored with the quality and the volume of the sound. I have the 3 series but I would think the 5 series would be even better. I purchased these speakers because they are passive and I have a good amplifier to drive them with. Because of the small room I use the speakers in, the cube speakers are behind my flat screen monitor. The sound is still exceptional. The sound I get out of these are equivalent to the sound I got out of my big boxy speakers that are 3 feet tall and had a 10 inch sub woofer in them. Bose does it right.
