    BAttlestar Galactica Delivers in HD

    The cast is exceptionally talented. I'm not sure how series creator Ronald Moore assembled such a diverse, nuanced group of actors, but there are literally no weak links in the chain. Visually, the show's no slouch either. The futuristic world of 'Battlestar Galactica' is more 'Blade Runner' than 'Star Trek,' but it never fails to elicit a gut response. The scale is convincing, the CG space battles are thrilling, and small details make the universe of 'Battlestar' feel appropriately lived in. Unlike other sci-fi shows, scenes that take place on planets don't feature locations that resemble sets.     Universal Re-release of Galactica

    First season of Battlestar Galactica on HD-DVD got extremely bad reviews thanks to poor packaging and damaged discs. Packaging is decent and rubber holders do their job well, no need for twisting discs. Circular scratches remain on all discs but that doesn't affect playback. I'm currently on disc 5 and have yet to encounter any problem. All recent re-released Universal HD-DVD titles have menus and extras at 10-15dB louder than normal. I bought like dozen of Universal HD-DVD titles recently and their menus sound all the same. It doesn't bother me, I'm just pointing this as proof that Universal re-released them and remastered them. I never watched Battlestar Galactica on Sci-fi channel but then during first season airing I never had HD version of Sci-fi channel so it is hard for me to say ...

    The best Sci-Fi series since The X-Files

    The new Battlestar Galactica is nothing like the cheesy but loveable series you remember from your childhood. This show is replete with hardcore action and political and moral discussions. The effects are state of the art, the acting is believable, the direction well done and the editing tight. The HD-DVD box set of BSG S1 differs none in quality from the Blu-Ray edition. If you have an HD-DVD player you should take advantage of the steep discount available on this title. If you don't have an HD-DVD player, but happen to own an Xbox 360, buy the Xbox HD-DVD drive from eBay -- I got mine for $20. There are still many titles available from Amazon and other sites for the format, at ridiculous prices. The high def discs look great played by the Xbox. It's a great way to get into HD content ...

    Good as Blu-Ray but very dirt cheap....Thanks Sony.

    This was a steal that I couldn't let pass by due to the fact that the DVD version was around $40 and up. Even though HD-DVD formart is dead, I still believe that this is no different from Blu-ray, other than the fact Blu-ray has a bigger storage space on the disk. Still, there are movies and some shows that are in HD-DVD and are dirt cheap to purchase. BSG is one of my favorite series that raised the bar ever since Babylon 5. I didn't get the chance to see Season 1 or 2 due to the fact I didn't think we had Sci-fi channel available. When I found this HD-DVD version dirt cheap, I had to get it since I recently purchased HD-DVD player for the XBOX 360 new for $40.
