The filter was offered at a good price. The filter was exactly as described. I could not buy this filter in 1973, because the manufacturer had discontinued the filter. 50% of my lens are 48mm. The 48mm lens size is being phased out by current manufacturers. Imagine my surprise when this 62 year old filter was offered as brand new old stock. The shipper sent a note thanking me for the purchase. The box was old, but the plastic case and the lens was brand new with original instructions as well.

    Skip the "AI" version and awful Silverfast; 7600 "SE" works identically

    The "SIlverfast" bundled software is quite simply a disaster, with no sign of that it will be fixed. It does not work or even install on any sort of recent Macintosh computers. You may think you're getting a bargain by having a license for some expensive software come "for free" with the scanner, but the reality is that it is worse than useless. Go for the cheaper "SE" version of this nice little piece of hardware and buy Vuescan (a cheaper, less-dysfunctional, but still shoddy) software to drive it. The hardware is very good for the price. (Glacially slow given USB2, and each slide must be fed manually, but I knew that up front and expected it.)
