    The Casio Cassiopeia BE-300 was an innovative device in its time, though the reason lies below the surface. It was one of the first PDAs to feature a flash-type ROM (read-only memory) module on which the operating system is installed. This allows the user to install customized operating environments based on the Windows CE 3.0 kernel. Several different OEs have been developed by enterprising BE-300 enthusiasts: there's a Pocket PC 2002-style interface, a classic Windows CE interface (complete with desktop-style taskbar and Start Menu on the bottom of the screen as well as desktop icons for easy access without having to open any menus), and several unique interfaces with features from both.     I like it

    I've had mine since 2002 and still use it. Not the fanciest or geekest, but does the job. I bought a keyboard for mine, now I can type anything anywhere, modem and can connect to the net-dial up tho...-and went thru several batteries. The batteries are a different story. Laptops for less, no I don't work for them, sells them for a reasonable price, and they're easy to put in. Don't get sucked into sending it to Casio to replace the battery. Also, follow the rules of battery memory by letting the battery discharge full b4 recharging or you'll be buying new ones every year. It comes with Casio's Top Menu software which is lame. But I have purchased Expod gold and it allows me to do anything I want. Watch movies, listen to music, etc.... Worth the money. If you want speed and all ...

    Casio Be-300 the little PDA that coula been a contenda

    While not as flashy as the other PDA's in it's class including it's bigger brothers. the be-300 had a lot of features for it's size and speed including MP3 player,PHoto viewer and more played AUDIBLE.com content and had a very strong Mod community. it's downside is that it uses a hybrid Windows CE OS so it didn't play the Real Windows ce Content. but it's an easy to use system above Palm but not quite Windows CE. if you get a good price Go for it. it syncs to WIndows by USB and use COmpact Flash Memory cards

    Casio Cassiopeia BE-300 Pocket Manager

    This PDA is so awesome! This PDA is different than others yet. MIPS 166mhz Processor with a good battery life. 16 MB or disk space/16 for ROM. Tell you why ROM is important later. The Casio Cassiopeia Be-300 is known as a Pocket Manager not a Pocket PC is because this is a cheaper version of one. When you first purchase this Pocket Manager you noticed the Operating Enviornment is different than other Pocket PC. Thats why. However here is the fun part about this thing. There are other versions and mods for the Operating Enviornment and Operating Systems. It was said that this device cannot handle Microsoft(R) Windows Media Player 7.1 for PocketPC but there are ports out there for this device.     Good for a Calendar and Address Book only!

    Don't be fooled by this one because of it's Windows Based OS. I've had it for about 3 or 4 yrs. and all it's good for is an address book and calendar. I bought it because it had a color LCD, it's price and it was Windows based. You can't really do anything with excel files except view them. I've realized I bought a unit that is only good for an address book and calendar and thats what it is used for. The cover broke within the first year, and the battery has never really held a charge as long as I would have expected it to. It has become very slow with the more info I have input on the calender and address book which does get very frustrating while searching through it.
