  • A Great PDA For the Price

Pros: - Good variety of programs built in (in ROM). - Pocket Office suite is perfect for typing up lecture notes, keeping track of contacts, day planning, etc. - Battery life is excellent (~7 hours) - The touch screen has excellent colors and good sensitivity (not OVER sensitive) - Voice recorder is very useful for short "notes to self" - Compact design can easily fit in a back pocket - Though the keyboard looks small at first, it doesn't take long to get use to, even for a guy with pretty big fingers. - Large variety of 3rd party software for all kinds of tasks available. - Dock + Active Sync software make syncing and charging the unit very easy. Cons: - Would be nice to have a headphone output built in, but this can be achieved through PCMIA addon card - Syncing through serial ...

  • Great organizer with Word and Excel. The best for taking notes at a meeting

The HP Jornada 680 is not a modern tablet but as a day to day organizer is it really good and these were way ahead of their time when they were new. Connects to the internet using a LAN connection (or dial up but who uses that anymore) but that is not why someone would want one of these. I use it for notes and meetings and as a personal organizer. It syncs to my computer with the cable or just by putting the SD card into my computer. The 70% size keyboard is much easier for typing. What would be perfect is if HP would use this same configuration and update the software and add wifi. If you are looking state of the art tablet then you should not get this. But if you are looking for an organizer with a working Word and Excel function then you can't beat this unit, especially for the price ...

  • If you don't want modern devise functions, this is a nice little devise.

First thing to keep in mind is that it came out back in the late 90's. It's not a new machine and doesn't have all the features that come with a modern devise. It doesn't have much memory, but had plenty for what it was designed for. It is great for note taking and general PMP uses such as holding contacts. It is possible to sync it up to windows 7, but it will take research and a couple third party drivers. It doesn't have a headphone jack, but MP3's weren't even wide spread at the time it came out. There was quite a following on the internet at the time so there are tons of programs for this if you dig deep enough. If you want a portable computer, get a netbook or even a modern android devise. If you want a cute little pocket PC with a full sized keyboard, or even if you collect ...

  • A dated device with substantial limitations. Know what you're buying!

These are great little machines. I've wanted one since I first saw it back in 1998. They hold up well, hp's quality is high, and many of them were barely used. However, be aware of what you're getting. The 680 is great for taking notes and personal information management, with two caveats: it has a small keyboard. If you have bigger fingers, you'll probably regret the purchase. You also cannot sync the data with your Windows 7 or Vista computer. The machine also has some additional limitations that are worth noting. First, it has no headphone plug and a mono speaker. So you won't be using it as an mp3 player while typing. Second, while you can buy a 16 bit (remember that, 16 bit) PCMCIA card for wifi, it will only work with a router set up with WEP encryption. ...

  • Lifesaver - a little old and bulky but dependable

The unit is well build and dependable. It is a great basic usnit that will do everything without WIFI capabi8lity. it is a little bulky and weighs more than most updated models but will easily gt the job done keeping you on track. The expandable slot allows for extra memory. The sync capabilities depends on the older 3.1 but again it is quite adequate to download calendars and contacts and other data from the computr.
